It Came From the Great Lakes.egg

I was experimenting with Mario's Scribbler application to make brushes for use here. In the course of playing around this image emerged. Although it doesn't look like any of their works it evokes for me the art of Benjamin Chichi and other Ojibway (Chippewa) artists from the northern Great Lakes region. Hence the name.

Thanks. I posted a question in the forum about a problem I'm having. If you open the image you'll see where I've put notes at the places where I'm stuck. Having problems with Cropping and with Color Manipulation.

I'm not sure how many coral reefs you'll find in Lake Superior, actually. But it's a cool way of reading it....one that never would have occurred to me. Thanks

The Ojibway artists I've seen have this wonderful way of including eye-like patterns throughout their images of natural forces. I have one on my wall which shows people singing around a drum and the Song of the Drum emerging from their chanting. There area a bunch of stylized animals around the Song Spirit. They're presented in profile and everything in the image has an eye. The singers, the song, the fish, the bear...so that a main part of the structure of the image is the pattern of eyes. As we look at the animals or at the spirit of the song they look back at us ...because it's all alive.

I saw a bunch of those eyelike things looking back at me from this one. That's where the name came from.
