if you dont mind a little crit... the dirt on the hands and the red of the boarder is really distracting. both together make me think the dog is messing the guy up... eh, I dont know if that makes sense? anyway I dont wanna be rude or anything. this pic is really awesome and I love all your work! just thought I'd point out.... if you dont agree, by all means, you are the artist so your opinion is the only one that matters in the end!

I always love a constructive criticism. :)
I had thought about the dirt previously and it did cross my mind to go about it a few different ways. I was simply thinking about using a different image source but I loved the detail on the hands. I also was thinking about trying to match up the color of the dirt with the skin tone but knew that it would just become unrealistic. I then added the border simply because the image felt unfinished to me for some reason. I appreciate the comments though.

cool! thanks for sharing! yeah, I love the detail of the hands with the details of the pup, they do go good together =) also I wanted to say before that I really like the grass background because it makes the puppy look even more tiny somehow... how cute! seems like all your animals you make are more tiny than real life, making them seem like some sort of live souvenier you can take home in your pocket or something. lol!

also, how'd you get the floral print for the boarder? did you just take that design and cut it out, inch by inch? crazy..
I'm always looking for new tips and tutorials for aviary so that I can make new images! If you ever did one, I would check it out for sure because I really like what I've seen of your stuff so far =)

So, the border is just adjusted the color and set it to multiply and doubled it up, then selected a couple of points that I could put in different corners so that it would blend in.

well you could just show us a couple of snapshots along the way, kind of like stopping at major points and talking a little about what you've done. I dont know about anybody else but all I'm looking for in a tutorial is what steps they took to make what they did and then I can take over from there. If you ever do one, shoot me a message! I'd love to see it no matter what its on =)

Also, I pasted a link on my facebook page that comes back to your gallery here on aviary so that my friends could see what aviary is for and some cool things on it. hope you dont mind but if you do just let me know and I will delete it!
