Wow...the hubs on this, are sort of mind-boggling. I don't know how you come up with these, but you sure have a complete mastery of Peacock in your sights. For a work in progress, it rocks.

Nice detail with the caustics.

Thanks. :) I really enjoy this kind of workflow: procedural texture generation. I often make shaders and interactive generative art in my spare time as well, peacock is just the latest in a long line of tools for this.

For me, it's interesting to create beauty out of math. Peacock works the way my mind works.

On a side note, as of V2 it doesn't look like much; I'm in the middle of a thought but it's time to take a break.

I thought maybe you had a mathematical mind. I have to just experiment with some reverse engineering of masters like you. So, thanks for the learning opportunity. BTW...care to list a few of those other tools. I'm always interested in new ways to create art.

Here's a small list. ;)

Programming/Demo Tools
vvvv
Processing
Flash / Flex SDK
wonderfl
.werkkzeug1 (and I just noticed .werkkzeug3 ... have not seen before.)

Procedural Art
Context Free
Structure Synth

Shaders/Procedural Textures
Genetica
MapZone
Darktree

Terrain
Terragen
Grome

----------------------------

Quite a number of these are node-network-based, similar to Peacock. If I had to recommend just one, it would be Processing. It's a Java-based programming environment, but so long as the programming doesn't scare you away, it is easily the most powerful and versatile tool on the list, while still being easier to learn than Flash. Other than that, all these programs are excellent, with many, many months of my life wasted in them making beautiful things. :)

Wow, thanks for the list. I'll have to check these out. I've seen a couple. Darktree was fun and Terragen is such as incredibly power landscape creator. Like you, I'll spend hours upon hours tinkering with such tools and then move on to the next shiny object.
I hope, one day, to put it to good use, but if not, it sure is fun.

I'm sure you've heard of most everything, but in case you haven't, I'll list a few you may enjoy based on your mathematical mind.

Apophysis - fractal flame editor http://www.apophysis.org/

Ultra Fractal - 2 and 3d fractal art creator with layers that can have striking results http://www.ultrafractal.com/

Groboto - 3D modeling tool that uses auto and draw bots to generate very unique models
with little effort. I used it to create the model for my avatar. http://www.groboto.com/

Take care...see you on the fly.

Steal away! Please! :)

I think I'm going to extract the DOF section into it's own little tutorial .egg...

Not only technically gorgeous, but I also love this:

Increased the marble density, tweaked the shadows a bit, and got rid of some of the pink marbles. (Random noise generator seems to really like pink!? I sure don't.)
